Step 2: Activate the ActiveCampaign Addon
Once you’re done installing and activating it, you will have to add the ActiveCampaign Addon.
To do this, navigate WPForms >> Addon. When the page opens, you will find various useful addons from WPForms, Look for the ActiveCampaign addon and click Install Addon.
Once installed and activated, you will see the addon status as active in green. This shows the installation and activation were successful.
Step 3: Create a Signup Form Using WPForms
Once WPForms and ActiveCampaign are installed and activate successfully, you will have to create a signup form using WPForms to use their features.
To do this, go to WPForms >> Add New
On the next page, you will be asked to choose the form name and then choose a template. If you want to create a newsletter signup form, simply click on “Create a Newsletter Signup Form“.
Next, you will have to customize the template you chose for what you want. You will find various fields on the left that can be added into the form on the right.
You can change the structure of the form by clicking on the name field.
Under the format section (on the left-hand side), click on the arrow pointing downwards to open a drop-down menu. Choose the simple form or any other type of customization for the Name field.
You can also customize the Email field, but here, I’ll leave it as it is.
Step 4: Configure Your Settings
The next step would be to configure your form settings. Click on the “Settings” option. Here you can configure General, Notifications, and Confirmations settings.
General Form Settings (Settings >> General)
Here, you can set several fields like Form Name, Description, CSS Class, and so on. Tick “enable AJAX form submission” if you don’t want the page to reload after a form is submitted.
Notification Settings (Settings >> Notifications)
In this section, you can change the notifications settings – from name, from email, sender email address, and email subject. Other notifications that be changed include reply-to and message from users
Confirmation Settings ((Settings >> Confirmation)
Your confirmation settings determine what happens when a user submits a form. Here, you can change the type of message and type in a confirmation message that will display on form submission.

Step 5: Connect Your Form With ActiveCampaign Account
Once you’re done creating your signup form, you will have to connect the form with ActiveCampaign. To do this, click on the “Marketing” option, and then click “ActiveCampaign“.
On the next page, click on “Add New Account”
A form page will load where you will have to type in your ActiveCampaign details (Before now, you should have an ActiveCampaign account and subscribed to one of their packages).
To get all the information requested on the form, you will have to log into your ActiveCampaign account and click on Settings in the left-hand side menu.
Another list of settings will dropdown. Click on Developer to get your API URL and Key needed to fill the form above.
Paste the API URL and Key in the form and click on the “ADD” button to complete connecting WPForms with ActiveCampaigns.
Once connected, a page will popup requesting that you provide a connection name for the form.
Type in the connection name and click on the OK button.
This will open the ActiveCampaign settings page where you can tweak your settings. You will have to first select the account connected to your website in the select account area.

When you’re done editing your settings, click on the SAVE button to keep the edits you’ve made on your form.
Step 6: Embed Signup Form Using Shortcode
Once saved, you will have to embed the form in your posts and pages using shortcode. Right next the SAVE button is the EMBED button. To embed the form, you will have to click on the button to display the shortcode.
When clicked, a page will popup where you can copy the shortcode and paste where you want the signup form to the displayed.
